Fairmount
Cottage is another Proudfoot and Bird home built in
Wichita's construction heyday of the late 1880's. The 2
1/2 story cottage was built in 1888 for A. S. Parks,
president of the Kansas Sash and Door Company.
A combination of native
limestone, shingle siding, stained glass, Palladian windows,
turret and closely spaced spindle shaped columns
characterize this Queen Anne style cottage with Richardsonian
Romanesque influences. A full width veranda extends
across the front (east) facade that projects to the north
to form a portecochere.
